We interviewed Courtney Whitmore, the incredibly talented and incredibly awesome founder of Pizzazzerie.com. As the queen of festive, we couldn’t wait to hear her tips for a fabulous 4th of July.

Q: What’s your favorite thing about 4th of July entertaining?
My favorite thing about July 4th entertaining is how easy it is to set a fabulous tablescape with a few simple red, white, and blue elements! A simple red tablecloth, regular white dinner plates, and a few touches of blue can create an atmosphere that really ‘pops’ for this patriotic holiday!

Q: Oh no! Rain is in the forecast. How do you adapt your outdoor celebration?
If rain is headed your way, simply adapt your party indoors by re-setting your party decor on an indoor dining table. The main elements to remember are table decor and food! Don’t worry about the sparklers, tie ribbons around them and stick down into centerpieces for extra decoration since they won’t get much use in the rain.
Q: What’s your go-to menu for 4th of July?
My go-to menu for July 4th entertaining is a make-your-own-hot-dog bar with all the classic toppings, potato salad, cole slaw, and black bean salad. I love the traditional Americana foods so of course dessert is vanilla cupcakes in red, white and blue! You can’t forget about drinks so a red, white and blue cocktail is a must!
Q: Share an easy twist on a 4th of July classic.
Add a little pizzazz to your drinks on July 4th by creating a red, white and blue skewer with raspberries, blueberries, and mini marshmallows! Not only is it tasty but it adds some patriotic flair to simple beverages!
